How it Started…
I started Anayrah five years ago during my second year at university, driven by a vision and a love for modest fashion. At that time, I was just a young woman with a dream, no money, and an idea I truly believed in. It was my uncle, Arafath, who first believed in me and my vision. Despite battling cancer, he was full of life, energy, and unwavering faith in my potential. He was the one who invested in me, giving me the support to turn my idea into a reality, proving that even in the face of illness, generosity and belief in others can create something remarkable.
Initially, the brand was called Nisa Al Zahra, but just two months after launching, my uncle passed away during COVID. His body, already weakened by cancer, could not fight off the virus. Losing him was devastating, and I had to put the business on pause to grieve and navigate such a profound loss. Those months were some of the hardest of my life, but his belief in me stayed with me, a constant reminder of the courage and vision he saw in me.
When I returned to my passion, I rebranded the brand as Anayrah, a name that translates to “bringer of joy” and “radiating light.” This name embodies exactly what I want the brand to do: celebrate the beauty of hijab and modesty while spreading confidence and positivity. I chose a name beginning with “A” to honour my uncle, keeping a connection to his memory and the light he brought into my life.
Today, my mission with Anayrah is clear: to create hijabs that are accessible, affordable, and a symbol of strength. Every piece is designed to empower women, allowing them to express themselves with elegance, confidence, and faith. Anayrah is more than a brand; it is a tribute to my uncle’s belief in me, a celebration of modesty, and a reflection of the strength in every woman who wears it.
